Sometimes I Knit, Other Times I Yap

It’s the middle of 2026, and I haven’t touched this website in two years. I’ve been paying for it this entire time, and to be completely honest, I’ve been too overwhelmed with life to even look at it. So now I am trying to remedy that.

Hi. My name is Nicole. I moved from Detroit to Grand Rapids two years ago. I work full time in retail, and have worked various part time jobs to help make ends meet. This has burned me out, and I have finally decided that taking care of myself needs to be a priority. This year, I had a goal of fixing and figuring out some of my mental and physical health issues. I am currently working on both, through medications, massage, moving my body, and focusing on things that make me happy. I am okay with my finances being tight if it means I am happier and healthier. I am writing this post sitting in an incredibly comfy chair at Catalyst Training Center during their co-working hours. Some external motivation, and a dedicated “work space” is incredibly helpful for me.

This website/blog (do people even do that anymore? or are they just making tiktoks? get off my lawn) is more for me than anyone else. But if you’re here, I’m so glad you are. I have a goal of documenting more of my art, craft, cooking, and life in general. Knitting is my primary medium, but I have a huge list of crafty projects I would like to dabble in before the end of the year. That being said, we are halfway through and I’ve done like three things… So they won’t all happen, but that’s okay!

One of the big exciting things I want to share is one of the consignment spots I have my knits in. The above mentioned Catalyst Training Center has a really lovely community space where there is art for sale from a handful of local, queer artists. It’s a beautiful selection of prints, pottery, jewelry, stickers, patches, and my little knits. They are having an event on July 25th and I will be vending alongside a bunch of other great folks. There will be mini-sessions with their trainers and instructors so you can try out their classes with no commitment.

I have another consignment spot that’s opening soon, which I will share as soon as I get my stuff on the shelves. Until then, I will be knitting and making and taking care of myself. If you’ve read all of this, thank you. I appreciate you being here.
